Project Uno

Before

After

Here's how it all progressed

The first part to receive a makeover was the intake manifold. As the Italians had very gynecological hands they were able to craft each part so small that mini me would struggle to work in the engine bay. The stock throttle body was chopped off and a flange welded in its place to host a Nissan SR20 throttle. This should increase throttle response and also aid in more air to be forced into that 1400cc engine.

The engine was also cracked open so that some new internals could be fitted. The head was also replaced at the same time as the original one was a little warped from a previous overheating exercise. As you can see, Derm is working on this conversion. You can tell this by looking at the clean work this man does and this is something I have yet to see form any other tuner out there. The last pic is the engine assembled and ready to be dropped back into its place.

Here are some pics of the Uno standing at Derms place. Nice shot of the empty engine bay. There is a lot of cleaning to be done before the engine goes in. The Uno will also receive a nice set of 15" TSW Lightning's soon with a set of Yokohama Semi Slicks for race days.

Here the engine is back in the car and the branch manifold is complete. You can see the new turbo in place and I am not going into specifics for obvious reasons. I will only say that it is a Garret T28 from a Nissan Pulsar GTiR and the internals are no longer stock. This branch was built by Stephen and he's done a really good job on it. This is not an easy task as the intake manifold runs in between the branch manifold.

Here are some new pics of the engine bay. All the boost pipes are made from 304 Stainless Steel and will be polished.

There is a nice view of the Garrett T28 turbo. Will be making some good power on this puppy...

Some pics of the intake pipe. It's one of the neatest I have ever seen.

Here is the boos pipe that will be machined onto the SR20 Throttle Body. Some clean welding there.

Tight fit on the Throttle Body.

From here you might want to go get a towel to wipe off the drool...

Just have a look at the neat work on the down-pipe!

Some more pics of the Intercooler...
